The Delhi government has announced plans to build a medical college in Dwarka, with admissions slated to commence in 2025 for 125 seats. Along with the government's plans for a college, Health Minister Satyendar Jain also revealed plans for a mother and child care hospital to be built on the grounds of the Indira Gandhi Hospital in Dwarka Sector 9. Following delivery, the infants will be better cared for here. This hospital will have a capacity of approximately 600 beds and will be equipped with all necessary amenities, particularly those for the care of mothers and babies.

The medical college, which will be part of the Indira Gandhi Hospital and located in Dwarka Sector 17, would help Delhi improve its health facilities and become a pioneer in medical education. While the college will initially only offer MBBS courses, it plans to expand to include MD and MS programmes in the future. Special attention will be paid to research and study to ensure that the medical college emerges as a powerhouse for research and innovation. The college will provide opportunities for poor Delhi residents to pursue careers as doctors, benefiting society as a whole.
