The 'human milk bank' service for inborn neonates has been launched by the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research. Human milk is collected from eligible moms and stored in a milk bank after being screened for diseases and pasteurized before being provided to premature newborns whose mothers cannot furnish milk. If a mother's milk is unavailable, human donor milk is the next best option, especially for premature babies. Breast milk provides several benefits, including protecting babies from illness and lowering mortality rates. This is the region's second milk bank, and the PGI now has all of the necessary modern equipment. The government plans to build comprehensive lactation management centers in all medical colleges and districts to boost breast milk feeding rates.
